Andrew has been an athlete his whole life, he participated in soccer, lacrosse and track during high school in upstate NY and improved his soccer skills during college. He is always trying to stay active with other sports such as snowboarding, mountain biking, swimming, surfing and numerous other adrenaline surging exploits. When he discovered CrossFit in April of 2009 he was coming off a soccer injury and years of “lifting” at the local globo gyms, needless to say, he got his butt kicked when he stepped into the compound, but he was hooked! His first WOD left him unable to straighten his arms from so many pull ups, but he loved it and couldn’t stay away! He loves that it is about the community, and looks forward to helping others conquer their goals. It’s also become a sport for him, as he enjoys the competitive aspect and he still gets butterflies in his stomach before some WODs! Andrew currently teaches group CrossFit classes, Boot Camp classes at Memorial Park, and offers personal training. Andrew  is also co-owner of sister affiliate, Pin Up CrossFit in Midtown.

Andrew’s certifications: CrossFit L1,  CrossFit Kettlebell Instructor, CrossFit Gymnastics, CrossFit Endurance, CrossFit Joint Mobility and Recovery.

Kristian Montoya

Kristian grew up in Alvin, Texas and O’fallon, Missouri and graduated from Alvin High School in ’03 where he played soccer, football and tennis. After graduation Kris headed up to the University of North Texas to play football for the ‘Mean Green’. After two years at North Texas he found his calling in nutrition and decided to pack up and head back down to Houston to finish his undergraduate work in Nutrition at the University of Houston.

Like most other athletes who discover CrossFit, Kristian was immediatley hooked! The ripped hands, blood and sweat became appealing. There’s nothing else out there that challenges ones physical and mental toughness on a daily basis. Kris’s need to test his body daily and self-improve led him to obtain his level 1: CrossFit certification, which then led him to join the Bayou City team. “My goal is to help my CrossFit community reach and surpass any and all fitness and nutritional goals they may have. I’m truly blessed to be a part of such a great, empowering community at Bayou City” says Kristian.

Andy Lewis

All-encompassing fitness has been my goal for the past 10 years.  Ever since I started playing sports I found that I was just as good in one position as the next.  This realization led me to push myself hard during training sessions for football and track and field so that I would become the best all-around athlete in my school.  Afterwards, at the University of Texas in Austin I was without something to feed my competitive side.  By the end of my freshman year I had competed in several Olympic distance triathlons and did well but didn’t feel completely fulfilled.  I found my true fitness calling the summer before my Sophomore year; CrossFit.  I quickly immersed myself into the theory behind CrossFit and changed my major to Kinesiology because of it.  After a year of following main site wods I became Crossfit certified and coached at Crossfit Central in Austin for 2 years specializing in indoor Crossfit classes, CrossFit Bootcamps, and nutrition.  I recently became certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) in order to focus on the more traditional and underground strength and power modalities.  I have utilized CrossFit as my primary fitness training system for over 4 years now and don’t see my zeal for the Sport of Fitness ending anytime soon.

Emily Brandenberger

Emily is former Division I Water Polo player who after leaving water polo in college spent the next years floating around looking to fulfill her competitive nature through fitness once again.  After many years in the globo gyms, pilates programs, spinning and even the Afro-Brazilian martial art of Capoeira, Emily’s husband Billy was introduced to CrossFit shortly after the birth of their first child and after several months of poking she finally decided to check it out.  Even though she had considered herself to have been in great shape before baby she was still shy about trying out CrossFit not knowing what her fitness level was going to be like 9 months after having a baby with much time having been spent on bed rest before the birth and c-section recovery afterwards.  After taking the first step and doing her introduction class one-on-one she was instantly in love with CrossFit and continued to do the remainder of her basic classes all one-on-one.  After making the leap to the “big class” there has been no looking back.  She became CrossFit Level 1 certified in September 2011, continues to push herself.

Micah Swancey

Micah began Crossfit back in October 2009.  Before then the only thing he knew about was functional variable movements was sitting down eating brownies and playing video games.  Much like anyone who truly loves Crossfit Micah became addicted.  After about a year of doing Crossfit daily at the box and at local competitions Micah decided to go out for his Level 1 Cert back in Sept 2010.  Now in 2011 Micah is taking his experience and education and passing it on to his clients every Thursday evening.  Micah says, “If I had a pair of ruby red Inov-8s and clicked them three times, I would end up at Bayou City because there is no place like home.”

Lori Reilly

Lori started at Bayou City CrossFit in August of 2010. Initially intimidated by the class environment, Lori opted to train one-on-one with Coach Katie for over 6 months before she entertained taking an actual CF class. She quickly overcame her fears one at a time and embraced the CF community and all it had to offer. Driven by her desire to help people push past their limits, Lori got her Level 1 Certification in August of 2011 and is now coaching at PinUp CF. Lori lives through her passion for fitness and nutrition – and is inspired by helping others succeed. Lori is excited to empower others to reach their full potential both in CrossFit and in life.

“I LOVE helping people do things that they didn’t think they could do. Watching and helping clients push past their fears/limitations and achieve their goals gives me the greatest satisfaction as a coach.”
